HallStar’s Portfolio of Skincare & Suncare Technology
SolaStay® S1 (Ethylhexyl Methoxycrylene)
The most powerful and robust photostabilizer on the market today. It photostabilizes the combination of OMC (Octinoxate) and Avobenzone and works up to 1000x faster than Octocrylene to protect against a loss of absorbance. SolaStay S1 is the only product that will deliver the highest PFA ratings to help formulators achieve previously unobtainable levels of UVA protection. It has outstanding solvency for crystalline UV filters, is easily emulsified, and is suitable for beach and daily wear. Suggested use level: 2-4%. SolaStay S1 has also been documented to substantially photostabilize 0.1% Retinol, Retinyl Palmitate, and Resveratrol, which are incorporated in skin care products for their anti-aging benefits. The recommended used level for SolaStay S1 in such products is between 3 and 5%.

HallBrite® BHB (Butyloctyl Salicylate)
A light, versatile emollient that greatly improves product aesthetics, imparts an elegant and moisturizing feel to the skin, and photostabilizes Avobenzone. Ideal for broad-spectrum daily wear, suncare, and color cosmetics. Its moderate polarity and low viscosity make it an excellent solvent for sunscreen actives. It serves as an excellent carrier and dispersant for micronized Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, and cosmetic colorants. Combined with its excellent toxicology profile and low potential for irritation; it is an odorless, colorless, and tasteless liquid suitable for use worldwide. Suggested use level is 2-10%.

Polycrylene® (Polyester-8)
A photostabilizing co-polymer for Avobenzone that works with Octocrylene to produce noninfringing sun protection products. Its polymeric structure helps to improve the substantivity & water resistance of sunscreen formulations. Polycrylene is a globally approved raw material with an excellent toxicology profile. Suggested use level: 1-3%.
