Broad Spectrum Oil-in-Water SPF 60 Sunscreen Cream

Formula Number: RP2-33 Ref JZ8-81

This Octocrylene- and Oxybenzone-free sunscreen cream makes use of highly efficient SolaStay® S1 for the photostabilization of Avobenzone. Olivem® 1000 and Oliwax® LC constitute the moisturizing emulsion base. This formula was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~60, PFA (PPD) ~19 performance with critical wavelength 377 nm. In vivo testing yielded results of SPF 68 (3 subjects) and PFA 23.8 (1 subject). In vivo testing data from a Korean lab are also available.

PREPARATIVE PROCEDURE

1To a secondary vessel add phase A, start mixing and add phase B. Heat phase AB to 80°C and then add phase C with mixing.
2To the main vessel add the Water of phase D, start mixing, add the Disodium EDTA and then add the Xanthan Gum.
3Heat phase D to 80°C and then add premixed phase E to phase D.
4When both phases ABC and DE are homogeneous and at designated temperatures, add phase ABC to phase DE with mixing.
5Homogenize phase ABCDE for 3 minutes, resume mixing and start cooling. When batch is < 50°C add phase F and mix well.
6When the batch is uniform add deionized water to correct for evaporative losses. Continue mixing until a smooth, homogeneous cream results. Perform final quality assurance checks.
